Summary
Cancels several old punishment orders against Iran and updates another to meet the terms of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) nuclear deal.
What problem does this solve?
The United States had strict rules punishing Iran for its nuclear program, but a 2015 international deal required the U.S. to remove some of them. This order officially cancels several of those old rules to follow the agreement, while also creating new ways to punish Iran for other bad actions.
What does this order do?
Revokes four executive orders on Iran sanctions
Completely cancels Executive Orders 13574, 13590, 13622, and 13645, which had placed various sanctions on Iran.
Amends an existing Iran sanctions order
Changes Executive Order 13628 by removing sections 5 through 7 and section 15, which dealt with specific sanctions.

•
Maintains pressure on Iran for non-nuclear issues
Keeps some sanctions and creates new ones for issues like corruption and support for certain groups, ensuring the U.S. can still punish Iran for actions not covered by the nuclear deal.
